Superstars and SoonerCon recaps, I’m on a podcast, HBDRAH, and book three is underway!

It has been a crazy first half of 2023. I attended my second Superstars Writing Conference in February. As before, it was a fantastic experience! I registered for 2024 as soon as I got home. It’s quickly become one of my favorite places to go to expand my horizons, both personally and professionally. I’m also proud to report that my short story, “Out of Habit”, was selected to appear in this year’s Superstars anthology. Titled A BIT OF LUCK, this year’s theme is historical fiction, and meant to honor one of the con’s founding members, Eric Flint. I couldn’t be more honored to have my work alongside so many of my talented peers.

SoonerCon was last weekend in Norman, OK. Listen, if you can conceivably get to this con, you should go. There’s definitely something for everyone, the cosplay is top shelf, there’s tons of panels on every topic you can think of, and the visual artists should probably all be in museums somewhere. This was my first year attending, and I went on invitation by my friends Phillip Drayer Duncan and J.H. Fleming. Both are terrific writers and together with their pal Chris (#ChrisSoundsHot) they host the Future Best Seller podcast. I’ll be appearing on the show next week, so check back for a link to listen! Big thanks to Phill and J.H. for the invitation to come on and talk. I think we had a great conversation.

Quick shoutout to one of my foundational inspirations and a pillar of the sci-fi community, Robert Heinlein. Today would have been his 116th birthday, so maybe I’ll read FARMER IN THE SKY for the 116th time.

Happy news on my own project. Book three of my weird western series is moving right along. I wrapped up chapter three last night, and chapter four will get started as soon as I publish this post. This one is fun already y’all, so tighten your suspenders!

Don’t forget my episode of Future Best Seller drops next week, but you can check them out now at www.futurebestsellerpodcast.com
