It has been a crazy first half of 2023. I attended my second Superstars Writing Conference in February. As before, it was a fantastic experience! I registered for 2024 as soon as I got home. It\u2019s quickly become one of my favorite places to go to expand my horizons, both personally and professionally. I\u2019m also proud to report that my short story, \u201cOut of Habit\u201d, was selected to appear in this year\u2019s Superstars anthology. Titled A BIT OF LUCK, this year\u2019s theme is historical fiction, and meant to honor one of the con\u2019s founding members, Eric Flint. I couldn\u2019t be more honored to have my work alongside so many of my talented peers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
SoonerCon was last weekend in Norman, OK. Listen, if you can conceivably get to this con, you should go. There\u2019s definitely something for everyone, the cosplay is top shelf, there\u2019s tons of panels on every topic you can think of, and the visual artists should probably all be in museums somewhere. This was my first year attending, and I went on invitation by my friends Phillip Drayer Duncan and J.H. Fleming. Both are terrific writers and together with their pal Chris (#ChrisSoundsHot) they host the Future Best Seller podcast. Quick shoutout to one of my foundational inspirations and a pillar of the sci-fi community, Robert Heinlein. Today would have been his 116th birthday, so maybe I\u2019ll read FARMER IN THE SKY for the 116th time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Happy news on my own project. Book three of my weird western series is moving right along. I wrapped up chapter three last night, and chapter four will get started as soon as I publish this post. This one is fun already y\u2019all, so tighten your suspenders!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
